> 29-01-2011: Seven people injured in remote controlled bomb blast near Alamdar Road Quetta

At least seven persons, including three policemen, were wounded in a bomb explosion in the Pakistani city of Quetta on Saturday.

The blast, which took place at a time when a police van was passing at Nachari road near Rehmatullah Chowk at Alamdar Road in Quetta, partially damaged the police van and some nearby buildings.The bomb, which was planted in a car, was exploded with a remote-controlled device, SAMAA TV quoted DIG Investigation, as saying.

Rescue teams rushed to the blast site and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals. Security agencies have cordoned off the area and started investigation into the terror attack. 

There have been no immediate reports of casualties.

At least 13 Shia Momineens have been martyred and 70 others wounded in the bomb attack, which ripped through a Chahlum procession in Lahore. Shortly after the first attack, a motorcycle bomb explosion in the southern city of Karachi Martyred three people and injured several more. The bomb went off in a densely populated area.

According to local sources, more than 2,000 Shia Muslims have been killed in the region since the start of the campaign by pro-Taliban and al-Qaeda-linked militants. Quetta, the capital of Pakistan's restive southwestern Balochistan province, has witnessed several instances of violence directed against the Hazara Shia community in recent months.
